On our toll free (800) service, I found that if I do *67 before the call, it not only blocks the Caller ID, it also blocks the ANI. Our Telco is Southwestern Bell.

We had another issue where a coworker and I dialed from our cell phones. The ANI did not show our cell numbers when we called the 800 number. Instead, it showed the number of what appeared to be an unlisted number (number indicated included area code + 7 digits). When we directly called the local routing point, the numbers were correct. We both use Cingular service.

Has anyone run into similar issues with ANIs? As far as I know, ANIs should not be blockable. Is that correct? I am working with our switch people to get resolution, but I'd like to hear if this a common problem.

  • We have had a similar problem several months ago. I don't have the details right in front of me right now, but I do recall that we had a telco representative telling us that our lastmile carrier was the one responsible for blocking it there were some contractual issues between LM people and the carrier itself.

Give me few days to browse through my email, because I might still have an email from our LM guy explaining what we need to do and so on.

  • We've had a similar issue, after we moved to a new building in a different CO. We get the ANI if we call the DID directly, but lose the ANI when the tollfree is called.

Bring it to the attention of your telco group, and they should bring it to the attention of your vendors probably your local telecom provider.
