I want to do a demo using the simulated pbx and a softphone calling into it. (no possibility of a real pbx). I want the call to be an "inbound", not "internal" which is how it appears at the moment. How can I make an "Inbound" call? I can change the VB if necessary, but can't find a way to achieve this. Any ideas?

  • I am not sure with the PBX sim but I think if you define one trunk on the PBX sim, and use that trunk as origin for calls, the calls will be tagged as "inbound". Of course calls made from extension to extension/queue are considered "internal".

Because CallType is assigned by TServer I don't think you would be able to changed. If you only want to trick a GUI (display a label, or so) you can fake inbound calls from one specific extension (eg 1234) and look for ANI or OtherDN in the attached data, and if is 1234, just display the call as an inbound. Dirty trick, but will work

    Hope this helps

Easy define you origination DN as any random number in PBX Simulator GUI and you will be fine.

Another way is that might work (I have nbot checked it yet) is to define your Softphone DN as a random number and DO NOT log the agent in just register the DN and place a call... Should work...hopefully

It works from the simulator with orig DN as a random number, BUT it's a lousy interface to demonstrate to people. I want to go softphonesoftphone and get it seen as an inbound call. The second suggestion if I use a random DN for softphone it won't register have I missed the point of your suggestion?

Ok, that is a different scenario. Calls between extension in the same PBX are internal calls. You can not control that.

Since you are planning to use two softphones, I am assuming that also you are planning to register two extensions, and probably two agents id. Calls between these two extensions are simply internal calls.

I don't know why are you trying to do this, but in actual life the inbound calls usually is not generated by a genesys softphone, at least not by a genesys softphone register in your same tserver.

BTW. I tested placing a call from a trunk to an extension with the PBX simulator, and work just fine. Call was "inbound".

The reason was that software later down the chain reacts differently to inbound & internal & I wanted to show both reactions.

Thanks for all the suggestions. In the end it was easiest to dial from the sim interface & explain the reason.
