Is anyone using VTO to perform Onhold messages. Our onhold music comes from the PBX. However, we would like to be able to provide onhold messages without using the PBX.

If you transfer On Hold calls to a range of specific VTO Port, not otherwise in use, you could play messaging/music there.

What's the concept?

Thanks for the response.

The concept is to play a message to the customer when they are placed on hold by an agent. Something that explains to the customer that the agent is pursuing information related to the customer's request and that the agent will be with them shortly.

Currently all we can offer the customer is MOH which is provided by the PBX (Nortel 81c). We have been told that we cannot perform this type messaging from the PBX because all users (non call center) would receive the messaging.

Thoughts?

  • It is possible to create multiple music sources on most switches, including, the Nortel range.

I used four, one each of four languages supported. I connected a product from http://www.radio1.ca, that allows messages to be mixed in with your music on a schedule.
