Active X Desktop Toolkit startup error?

Just tried starting Active X Desktop Toolkit on my desktop PC.  Received runtime error '438' - Object doesn't support this property or method.

Anyone get this before?  I'm going to reinstall the toolkit, just wondering if this is related to a Microsoft update, etc...

Thanks

Blah

  • I had the same problem quite a few times.

The best way to fix this problem is to:

    1. uninstall softphone
    2. install it again

it worked for me on my Windows XP Home.

I had a problem with it after re-installing it several times where Active X 7.0 would crash when it tries to register with t-server. I then tried it with AX 7.1 and had the same problem. To this day, I was unable to resolve this problem. I gave up, re-installed Windows and ... it worked. There must be some strange registry entry or DLL file that corrupts Active X installation. I hope you do not have the same problem.

  • Mike,
Sounds like it could be a permissions issue. Maybe some of the tlib dll's didn't register properly. I persume a reinstall should fix it.

Don't mean to start anything here...but the problems you experienced aren't necessarily the fault of Windows.

Windows gets blamed far too often for the problems created by suspect third party software...as is the case for the Genesys ActiveX Toolkit.

See, that's the nature of 3rd party developers...when their stuff works well, they credit their programming abilities.  When their stuff doesn't work well, they blame Windows.

  • I agree with you completely.

I think that the problem that both I and the person here experienced has nothing to do with Microsoft but everything to do with the way Genesys ActiveX installs and initialized itself. It would be really interesting to see if someone can pinpoint the problem. >:D
