Dear all,
can someone please explain to me the purpose behind converting 5.1 environment into G6.x? Genesys provides the conversion wizard (CCW) for this purpose; however, I fail to see it purpose.
I am not talking about places and person upgrade, because it IS necessary when you have thousands of places and persons already defined in your current environment, but G5 application environment, such as TServer, Stat Server, SDialer, etc..
Since G5.x is fundamentally different from G6.x, CCW just copies the application items into G6, without upgrading it. So, I assume Genesys wants to have G5 products use G6 CME and have G6 products interract with G5 applications.
I am not sure if I see the benefit of upgrading the current operating environment to G6 and have G5 products connect to it. Why would G6 products need to know about G5? I do not think that someone would want to use G6 TServer with G5 IR, and even if they did, would it not be safer to recreate the environment by hand, as opposed by CCW?
To me it would make more sense to have G5 CME database where all the current G5 products are running, and then have G6 CME database where G6 products are running.
Perhaps, I am missing something very important, and I would really appreciate if someone could clear it up for me.
Thanks!
