Hi,

over the last few years, I was amazed at how much people can charge for CTI toolbar. So, while I am moving with developing an open-source version of CTI toolbar, I have been told that most corporate clients would not like an open-source project due to support issues. Obviously, I am not going to complain about this. Instead, I will just take advantage of it and use it to fund my open-source project.

FOR SALE: customizable Genesys CTI toolbar to be used with Genesys Platform SDK. This is a very stable and mature platform that can be used to replace Genesys ActiveX or Genesys T-Lib softphone. What is more, our company will provide 24/7 support for any issues related to it.  Instead of charging per seat, I would like to see if we can make it simpler by just charging per customer.  The price is 20,000 USD for compiled version and 120,000 USD for full source code. Annual maintenance will be included and we will adjust the price to your needs.

I think an additional approach would be to give it away for free (not the source!) or a nominal price and charge for a support contract - make it flexible though, either per-incident or a time-based (annual?) support contract.
Have you also tried using the Devzone forum to notify potential customers of your product?

this is a very good idea - I just did not know if DevZone was appropriate channel for this sort of announcement. Would they even allow it?

Hi Vic,

Well, anything that is direct advertising of a product will get axed. Generally because there's no real area in the forums for anything like that.
What would proabably be a good approach would be to open up a discussion to try and get feedback from the community; i.e., what model would most customers be interested in - open source, paid-support contract, etc. A good description of your product would be the best way to start a discussion which would probably also provide good feedback on features that customers would find useful, etc.

I looked at the link you gave me and to be frank: Dev Community at Genesys seems pretty dead to me... Our own site seems to be a better channel for that.  This is both really fantastic and scary!

Yeah, I'd definitely agree that Devzone has lower activity in a lot of areas than our forum does. However, I wasn't really suggesting you use it as an alternative to here... more that you utilize it as a channel alongside here to get some visibility for your product.
