G6.1 w/o Config Server

Hi, all,

listen, I am getting very confused here.
I do not fully understand: do we absolutely NEED to install Configuration Server and all the related stuff to get TServer G6.1 to work???? Our client simply needs a TServer and was using a fileased configuration with G5.1 for who knows how long. Now, because we need to upgrade them to G6.1 (no more MLink :( ) I have trouble telling them that they now have to install a database, and three other servers just to have the same functionality as they did in G5.1

On top of that, I was able to run G6.1 TServer without CME...
Genesys told me that "database is indispensable when installing and operating Genesys products"...

This is ridiculous to say the least. Has anyone else heard this? OR even better has anyone else installed G6.1 TServeronly environment?

I have this strange feeling that someone is definitely saying something wrong...

Thanks,
Vic

  • Config file is not supported ( yet ) under 6.1 ( I think it is under 6.0 but not sure ). Tserver will run but do nothing. I agree with you, under windows you can put mssql and not a big deal but with then you are stuck with windows. If enough customers push back for simple tserver only installs maybe Genesys will see the light ( though I truely think it was a marketing brain dump ).
