I have a orchestration server - with no change to any config - it has started to create a DMP file, and the size of DMP file is very huge as well. any idea why this is getting created and how to stop this.
thanks

DMP is an error. Try an upgrade or check why it is crashing

looks like something in connection to OS and not the oRS in itself is creating them - how do we identify what is creating these DMP file ?
i just want to understand how this is getting created before i could plan on a upgrade.

DMP file is an exception, check your logs.

DMP file is created when the application crashes unexpectedly. The only way to properly troubleshoot this is to contact Genesys Support and send them the dmp files. But, as Cavagnaro mentioned, you may get something from your ORS logs.
If you're using an older version, Genesys support will most likely tell you to upgrade as the first step, so better to do that before raising a ticket in my experience.

yup , opened up the Genesys ticket - and they wanted me to upgrade - i m on .15 which is not too old - but now they have .60 version...
but since this is in prod as well - need to find a way to mitigate the impact.

The gap between .15 and .60 is a very long time. Based on the release notes, the release date for 8.1.400.15 was 04/14/15, 8.1.400.60 is 06/13/17. That's 34 new versions of the software you're missing, each one with between 2 and 5 fixes each. So you're probably missing about 100 specific fixes between your version and the current one.
Are you referring to mitigating the impact of the crash, or the upgrade? Provided you have it set up correctly with multiple nodes and a shared cassandra database you should be able to upgrade one node at a time during business hours without causing any impact to production.
