Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone has any experience using BlackChair Spotlight and what their opinion of it is? I've heard it's pricey so cheaper alternatives are preferable. I've searched "audit" in the forum and saw one guy advocating genaudit multiple times in 2008 but when I checked their website, it was a mess.
Regards,
Kclark.

I trialled Spotlight and was disappointed.
I believe it's just overpriced for simply providing tracking of change requests / events to config server.
I see no real extraordinary benefit.
I have only seen a detailed presentation of Auditgen: at least on paper it's millions light-years ahead.

Full disclaimer: I work for InProd
There are several products available that provide configuration auditing and to be honest the main differences between them all is the quality of the user interface and the pricing. You are correct, auditing by itself is not a complex feature.
Please check out InProd http://www.inprod.io as another option.
We consider auditing as one feature in our application, very useful feature that will rival any other product but it does not even represent half of our products value proposition.
InProd is able to package up changes into a set of actions that can be repeated or deployed to another environment. This means you can easily promote changes from Dev to test and then into production. We call these packages `change sets` and they can be used in many ways to reducing engineering effort and improve deployment quality.
Our pricing is considerably cheaper. In case you are only interested in the auditing functionality, there is a cut-down version also available.

Have used InProd previously. Really easy and clean interface, so it's not limited to techs. And reverting changes by revision is a great feature.
