Title: YouTube
Post by: cavagnaro on April 02, 2018, 01:06:00 PM
Hi guys
I have seen some Genesys ppts where they mention YouTube as a Media Channel, however can't find a single post or little reference to that in documentations...have you done something with it?
I tried RSS but seems is no longer supported on YouTube

Yes, we tried it by using a third-party tool and I suspect Genesys ran into problem with YouTube TOS that specifically prohibits the use of media outside YT player. There are several ways to actually get it done: https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/  I doubt it is fully legit though... you pipe the video and then transcode it as you want.  Works for us.

Jummm customer idea is to get only the feed from his channel, not the videos.
Why would you want to videos?  ???

I think what they want to do is play hold videos from youtube...makes sense, somewhat...by illegally streaming TV?

No no, my customer has a YouTube channel, as you know you can comment on them.
They would like to receive those comments (feed) as Genesys interactions.
Youtube used to allow RSS but now seems to be dead...that is what I am looking for, how to get those comments into Genesys as Inbound IXNs

I also saw YouTube mentioned somewhere. Maybe at some point, professional services came up with a special connector for YouTube.

Unless it's officially supported by Genesys Hub, I wouldn't try to implement a solution as social media APIs can change with very short notices.
