Title: RCS start
Post by: cavagnaro on October 29, 2018, 10:25:10 PM
Hi guys
I am migrating a GIR server (services totally down) and at new server when I start RCS (windows server) I get the following error:
2018-10-29T20:18:37.875 Trc 09900 com.genesyslab.rcs.model.RcsModel Keystore path is: keystore.bin
2018-10-29T20:18:37.876 Trc 09900 com.genesyslab.rcs.model.RcsModel Exception reading keystore: Exception: class java.io.IOException / Error initialising store of key store: java.security.InvalidKeyException: Illegal key size
2018-10-29T20:18:37.878 Alr 09900 com.genesyslab.rcs.controller.RcsWebMvcConfiguration Fatal error - unable to initialize cryptography, exiting now! java.io.IOException: Error initialising store of key store: java.security.InvalidKeyException: Illegal key size
I know it has to do with encryption level but don't understand how to fix it. At install documentation can't find anything related to this. Only part I can think of is this:
Copy the Local_policy.jar and Us_export_policy.jar files to the JRE_HOME/lib/security directory. If there are already copies of these files in that directory, make backup copies of these existing files in case you want to revert the installation.
However I have searched those files and can't find them at the installation DVD or folder...

Can anyone suggest? Version is 8.5.0.8076 and java is 1.8.0_121

Regards

Thanks
Even after replacing the jars it won't start...there is nothing else to do right? Should be automatic

Are you sure you update the JCE files in right Java? It seems like the Java is still using the old (limited) JCE policies

I only have 1 Java 1.8 installed, so updated at both JDK and JRE, even made my JAVA_HOME to point to JRE folder

Try to reinstall RCS and start it again. If I recall well, there is a limitation that the JCE policy has to be update before the RCS is start for first time. If you change the JCE after first start of RCS, then RCS will always fail.

@cavagnaro - Did you fix this issue and how?

Yes, as kubig mentioned. Don't start the RCS until you create the file. If you did, delete it and create again

You tried renaming the keystore.bin file. Also check environment variables for java and jre in place
