Title: UNIX and NT with Genesys
Post by: Jim on January 01, 1970, 12:00:00 AM
Does anyone run a mixed Genesys using both NT and UNIX? We currently running NT and were thinking of going to Network Routing and bring in IServer. Was suggested that I server be on a Sun Ultra. With the network T's on NT. Just wondering if you're running into any problems.

Hi, Jim,

we are runnign mixed environments on multiple sites, and so far, there were no significant problems. I would strongly urge you to use UNIX. Among a multitude of reasons, one I like the most is because when something crashes, with NT, you just have Dr.Watson log (even if that) and it is much harder to figure out what is happening than with Unix. This is definitely a question of cost versus stability, even though in a long run, I have found UNIX environment less costly to maintain than an NT one.

Does anyone have any research on it?
Vic

I agree that UNIX is stronger and when Genesys was proposed I recommended UNIX but was vetoed.
So far NT as proved stable in our enviorment but as we start to add more Genesys products will see how it goes.
