Title: DNIS Reporting
Post by: Tony on January 01, 1970, 12:00:00 AM
We have an issue where we are running out of CDN's on our switch and are looking at pointing our 800 #'s to the same group of CDN's. Problem is that we report on the indiviual CDN and will now have to report based on DNIS. Does anyone else do this and do you run into problems when adding new #'s and modifying Report Templates, Layouts in DMA? I am looking for any suggestions to our dilemma.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Tony,

have you tried using Virtual Routing Points?
We have ran out of CDNs at one of our clients a long time ago and have been using them ever since. Real little lifesavers!

Of course, I suggest you review the reason why you have all of your CDNs filled. What option and version of Meridian are you using? What is the maximum numbers of DNs?

Hi Vic,

Thanks for your response. How do VRP's work? We have a Meridian Option 81c and are limited to 240 CDN's.

Regards,
Tony

You have two choices:

upgrade the release of your PBX
use URS and define several VRP on the same CDN. Think of it as two different CDNs on the same BIGGER CDN :)
When URS receives a call on the CDN, it will look at DNIS and then based on DNIS forward the call to VRP1 or VRP2.

You can easily get reports per VRP Genesys treats them as normal RPs in reporting.

Vic,

Is there any documentation out there on how the Virtual Routing Points use? How does the call get pointed to the VRP's?

Could we have a side conversation on this by chance. Let me know and thanks for your assistance.

Hi !
In Merdian you can use a table to direct a group of incoming numbers to be routed to a CDN controlled by Genesys, and in the strategy you can identify witch number the costumer used by looking at the AttributeDNIS (DNIS in strategy) provided by the switch. I think the table is called ICD able. Your Switch vendor should be able to help you configure this.

Vic,

Also when you say upgrade release of PBX, what exactly do you mean and how painful is it?

Thanks,
Tony

I was browsing through my on notes and have just noticed that Genesys says that VRPs cannot be used for VOICE calls...
Weird, because we are using VRPs for load balancing on our networked IVRs.

Anyone?

Does anyone use VRP's for CDN consolidation? I am getting mixed replies and not sure whether this is possible for our scenario. We are trying to limit the # of CDN's on our Nortel Meridian switch and don't see very many options.

See Vics other question on VRP's. I posted a reply there.
