Hello.
We use Genesys Desktop 7.6 to make outgoing calls.
Is it possible to transfer chat from website to operators for processing?

Ermmm Genesys Chat... But 7.6 is quite old and no longer supported. Even GAD is faced out.
You need a lot of upgrades in your environment probably to support last versions.

Got it right that with the current version there is no way to process chats and we need to upgrade to the current version?

You could go with chat server, but need licenses, you probably will end up with chat api v1 which has no much features, like file transfer, rich text, etc... So... Can't imagine a nice user experience and less to current standards in the internet now.

You can also tell us - can we still upgrade to the latest version and host the software on our own servers? Or Genesys now only available in the cloud?

Premise is still an option yes.
However it is also true that Genesys is pushing hard to go Cloud. But you are the customer. Talk to your provider.
