Title: How purge Data DB
Post by: Matt on January 01, 1970, 12:00:00 AM
We have a few years of data in our Reporting DB (CCAnalyzer).

How do you go about deleting any data older than 2 years?? Is there a job you can setup?

Any help is appreciated, we are running 6.5 for everything.

You can set up purging rules using ETL Assistant that should be able to do the job. I would not recommend trying to directly delete from the database using manual processes, as it is easy to corrupt the database.

In ETL Assistant, you will find a window with all of the Views you have set up via DMA. There are all of the Aggregate levels you have set up for that View (NO AGG, HOURLY, DAILY, WEEKLY, etc.) If you rightclick your mouse pointer on the Aggregate Level, (e.g. NO AGG), an edit option appears. Click the edit item and the View on th right allows you to update the retention periods. You can then edit the retention and purge timings.

By default, everything is set to 2 years which, if you have an aggregate level of "No Agg" basically means *all* of the statistics for all of the Objects Types (Route Points, Agents, Queues, etc.) at that aggreagte level (usually 5 minute intervals) is being stored for up to 2 years. That is a *lot* of data!

My settings are usually something like this, for every Folder in ETL Assistant:

No Agg 3 days, purge on 1 day
Hour 7 days, purge on 1 day
Day 3 months, purge on 1 day
Week 6 months, purge on 1 day
Month 2 years, purge on 1 day
Quarter 2 years, purge on 1 day
Annual/Year 2 years, purge on 1 day

Don't forget you have to change the settings on *every* Aggregate Level for *every* View these do not automatically change if you change the top level.

I'll see if I can set up some screenshots to show this in my Yahoo! Group Genesys Hints and Tips:

I hope this helps?
