Here is my take on Avaya Vs. Genesys.
I feel like Genesys is an enhanced layer that wraps around Avaya. Many if not all of the functions in Avaya can be replicated in Genesys, but the truth of the matter is, you usually have Genesys crash and not Avaya.
When comparing report data, for example, Genesys stats are ALWAYS compared to Avaya and if there is a discrepancy, it is Genesys stats that are being questioned and not Avaya's.
Working with many Genesys product, I like the overall idea and most of the products because of the features. But FEATURE is defined in Websters as:
" a prominent part or characteristic b : any of the properties (as voice or gender) that are characteristic of a grammatical element (as a phoneme or morpheme); especially : one that is distinctive"
so, you have something that feature is a part of, and this, unfortunately for Genesys, is still PBX. As long as Genesys relies on PBX, it will only be that: a nice and expensive feature.
Perhaps this explains Genesys' move into IPPBX...
So, summarize it:
Genesys is to Avaya what Advanced Settings in your Windows Network Settings are to Windows itself.

He is looking for a comparision on AIC vs Gensys, for that matter all the cti solutions depends upon epbx, genesys is more open to other epbx when compare to AIC, Genesys is More versitile cti product, it is the best when comparision to other CTI products
Gensys is an alcatel company, Alcatel as its own pbx

Hiya....We did the Genesys vs. Avaya analysis a couple of years back and "at that time" decided upon Genesys. The resoning behind this is that the Avaya AIC product was still in early release and essentially vaporware, but we certainly liked the look of it.
In the end the decision for you should be driven by the Business requirements that are behind the project as neither solution is cheap. What exactly do the Business want to achieve and for how many agents and what functions do they want (inbound/outbound/IVR etc)

Wow...I did not figure that...Everyone is talking about AIC, even though I did not see it in his post. In fact, the scary thing is I do not even know what AIC stands for: Avaya Interaction Center, would be my initial guess.
Time to google!
