Does anyone know if there is a way other than the MAPD to link Genesys with the Avaya? Is there a way to tap into the CLAN for the CTI Link?

No, Genesys only works with MAPD. It would be neat to get it to work directly! But how?

With certain releases of software on the Avaya (CM2.0 and later I think) you can use CoResident Definity LAN Gateway (CoRes DLG). This runs on the switch processor, and communication to the tserver is via CLAN.
This is better, as CLAN can use 100Mbps full duplex connections, as opposed to MAPD, which can only run at 10Mbps half duplex.

Does it require a special TSERVER?
Any particular settings in Genesys that would differ it from MAPD connection?

If there is a way of not using MAPD,I would like to hear this one too. Are there any disadvantages to these approach?

No restrictions. The option has to be enabled on the switch.
Peak throughput is still 240 messages per second, but may be less on smaller switches (8300 etc).
It looks the same to tserver too, so no settings to change.

I am working on a project which uses MAPD and CLAN cards. The CLAN cards seems to be introducing some kind of delay into the response times between Avaya PABX and TServer. Not sure why at this stage but it has led to the failure of certain processes.
Anybody have any ideas?

OK here we go
Before CM2 MAPD
With CM2 CLAN or MAPD
After CM3 Avaya Enablement Server(AES)
Clans will still be providing the AES with all the info but now you can have 3 feeding it to get a maximum of 720 msgs per second.
In terms of delay, obviously check the network, but also make sure that you are not sharing the CLAN with CMS, IP phone registrations.....

Issue resolved. Apparently Microsoft Server 2003 buffers some incoming messages to the Tserver. This results in some considerable delay (when 10ms timing issues are being looked at). Patch is available to rectify this.
