Hi,
The dbserver spawns a connection to the database for each client. I would expect that you would require a license for each of these connections.
Below is a list of connections in Framework, Routing, Outbound and Reporting off the top of my head.
You will have to figure out the number of connections for other solutions like ICS, GVP or GPlus Adapters and Agent Desktops.
Framework
Single Connections
Configuration Server to ConfigDB
MessageServer to LogDB
Many Connections
SCI to LogDB (X Number of SCI Users)
Routing
Single Connections
URS to Customer Database
URS to ANI Table
Outbound
Many Connections
OCS (X Number of Outbound Contact Servers) to Outbound Database
Outbound Contact Manager (X Number of Users) to Outbound Database
Reporting
Single Connections
Brio OnDemandServer (ODBC) to Datamart
ETL (JDBC connection) to Datamart
Many Connections
Datasourcer to ODS (X Number of ODS)
ETL (JDBC connection) to ODS (X Number of ODS)
CCPulse+ to Datamart (X Number of Users)
Brio (ODBC X Number of Users) to Datamart
Call Concentrator to CConDB (X Number of Call Concentrators)
Stat Server to CConDB (X Number of StatServers)

Just a remark :)
For OCS each calling list use its own dbclient.
