Hi,

After six years, I think it is time to replace the existing buletin board software.

Here are some of the things that I was to have on the new board here:

1. post/view without login in
2. ability to attach screenshots/files
3. ease of use
4. free
5. Linux (we are windows now)
6. sticky notes would be cool

I am leaning toward phpBB unless someone can suggest something better. I am also looking for volunteers who are interested in helping me migrate the current data (access DB) into the newyet obedecided board format.

Yes,

all of it will be the same. Except, we will change Tony's name to Tonette :)

So, any suggestions? I am tempted with drupal these days... Or phpBB...

Guys,

A warning, steer clear of phpBB, it is an excellent package however has been a victim of its own success, I run a number of forums, and Moderate on several more, all which are or were running phpBB which is now plagued by robot signups which spam the boards and create memeber lists just to list websites (usually porn) so that it is indexed by the search engines.

These bots are even able to bypass visual verification steps, and have even been known to promote themselves to admins are demote the real admins to users or even delete them.

As a result of this I started searching for a replacement that was free, the answer was SMF (smiple machines forum) which can be found at: http://www.simplemachines.org/

I would fully recommend this software over phpBB.

+1 to this. So many phpBB's get hacked, screwed up on a daily basis it's not funny.
