Title: Asterisk Route Points?

Hi all,

I'm trying to get Genesys to do some routing on an Asterisk PBX I've setup. I've got the SIP TS going all ok and can call via GAD between extensions. I'm just trying to create a route point in Genesys so I can load a strategy on and try to get some real functionality going. I've created a queue in Asterisk to correspond to a route point I've created. I'm a bit of an Asterisk newbie so I was wondering if I'm going to have to create a custom app that runs on no answer for the queue to allow the TS to have full control over the queue? Or am I going about this the wrong way? Anyone out there done Genesys on top of Asterisk?

Why Asterisk and Genesys?  Asterisk is open-source. Genesys is one of the most expensive CTI products on the market. Why would you want to combine the two?

Hi Jeff,

For call handling you still need some form of PBX, hence Asterisk, which is free (h/w still required). You mention how expensive Genesys is, so have you seen the price of Genesys SIP Server which is another reason for using Asterisk.

Well they have a main Avaya site running on an old G3R with Genesys and are looking at rolling out something to replace some remote branch offices while CTI enabling them (for as low a cost as possible), I'm just trying to do a proof of concept to see if Asterisk would be viable at all (this is a build on vmware with some temporary licenses I managed to get a hold of).

Pavel,

I think combining Asterisk with Genesys is an interesting concept. How would you use it? Do you get T/S to connect to Asterisk through a CTI link offered by Asterisk? Or are we talking about something totally different?
