Title: [urgent] statserv does not connect to cfgserv_backup(primary mode) on startup
Post by: PeterPanda on January 14, 2007, 04:27:32 AM
Hi, everybody,

a really great place for Genesys questions.
Due to server maintenace, machine running the usual config server was taken offline, which was ok, because there was a backup config server and all genesys applications switched over to it. Earlier today the main statserver used for historical reporting was rebooted but it can no longer connect to config server.

how does one tell genesys application to connect to backup config server on start up and not primary?
primary and backup configuration servers are registered in CME and there are ha_redundancy license.
there is no problem with config serv switchover because in SCI backup config server is shown as active and every genesys application that was online during config server switchover re-connected to the now active backup config server and functions normally.

the problem is limited to applications that are started after the switch-over.

tried:

1. starting using SCI - statserver tries to connect to primary config server only
2. starting using prompt command (-host primary config server) - statserver tries to connect to primary config server only

did:

modified batch file with -host set to backup config server - worked

problem:

how can an application be started using SCI and be made aware that it needs to connect to backup config server if primary is down?
why doesn't SCS replace -host argument with backup name?

Genesys version: 7.2 for everything except management layer. SCS and message servers are latest 7.1 releases.

For an application to connect to the backup CS, you need to start it with SCI.

If you use a script/batch file it always connects to the host specified in that file.

You can always define a backup server in your -host file by using a semicolon to separate the hosts.
