Title: WAV playback slow in stream manager
Post by: mark on July 09, 2007, 11:46:41 AM
All,

I am having an annoying issue when playing back a file through stream manager.

I have converted Four_Seasons to to a wav file (alaw), however, when playing the music back it plays very slowly.
In windows media player the file plays at a normal speed.

The annoying thing is, I have done this before and converted music to be played through stream manager with no issues!

Any idea on what setting should be used when saving the file.
Using Audacity (as its freeware, company doesn't like us using shareware!)

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Please check the sampling rate of converted WAV file. Stream Manager is unable to change the rate during playback.

René

PS. Have you used my code for GDesktop - getting the list of logged agents? ;)

René

Not used the code yet, though recently it has become more of a focal point for installation.
Hope to have some 'spare' time soon, so will push on with it :D

Sample rate: 8000hz (same as other files being played) - at least that is in the settings. the file is actually 44000hz.

When importing the file as 8000hz, naturally it lengthens the time of the track (to 35 minutes!)!

Mark,

The sample rate is the cause of your issue as it has to be 8000hz. You have to re-sample the file when preparing .wav file for Stream Manager.

Found the cause!
The track was in stereo, SM seems to not like steroe tracks.
Split the track, deleted the right side, made the left mono then exported. All good!

Weird one.

Won't you miss the brass section if you don't have the stereophonic right side...?

Hang on though - you probably won't miss the brass section, since it's Vivaldi...  ::)

It is either sampling rate or number of channels. use sox.exe to check out the format of the default stream manager wav file and then resample yours accordingly.
