Title: GVP / SAP CRM compatibility
Post by: Adam_W on November 30, 2007, 01:08:15 PM
Is it possible for Genesys, specifically the GVP, to connect to a SAP database?  Currently we have the GVP connected to our CMS database via an ODBC connection, but we are moving to SAP CRM in around 18 months.

Any compatibility issues?

SAP CRM is a software, the access to their database must be given by SAP guys once you get it your ASP or whatever would work.

Adam,

There is no out-of-box solution/component supporting connection to SAP database from GVP. However, there are ways (RFC, web service etc.) how you can connect to SAP CRM and exchange some data. One of them could be direct connection to SAP database but I would say it should be last preferred one. Why? SAP CRM is a business system with a lot of business processes, rules, workflows etc. that won't be applied when talking/modifying the database directly. I'm sure you find a way to integrate GVP with SAP CRM when talking with SAP consultants.

I'm working on a project of integration GVP and SAP ERP right now. We're using web services and it seems to be a good and simple way to do the integration.
