Title: Regarding assigning DNIS to voice application in GVP
Post by: jankutty on April 04, 2008, 07:05:57 AM
hello !!

im a genesys newbie and im trying to understand the basics of genesys and GVP.

i have a question regarding assigning DNIS to voice application in GVP.

for Voice Portal manager documentation

it read the product manual in GVP documentation which said that  "the VPM configuration enables the VCS to correctly identify the desired voice application using the DNIS of the incoming call."

similarly for EMPS documentation

there is Prov DIDs settings which asks for filtering out DID's ( which im told that are basically DNIS ) for  assigning to the specific voice application. ie., when GVP gets an incoming call with this DID value the specific voice application will be activated.

How both can filter based on DNIS and choose the voice application ???

please help me understand this

im unable to understand how and which component of the GVP will look for DNIS and choose the specific voice application.

request you to kindly help me in understanding these.

thank you

when you create an application you write there the numbers that it will answer, what it really does is to create SIP users with those numbers so when you call one of them the application assigned to them will answer.
Again how the DNIS arrive will depende if you are behind or infront the switch
