Good morning, fellow Genesys citizens.
I have just received a copy of CME Import application from one of my colleagues. This program works closely with CME Export already enclosed with configserver and allows to do the following:
import data into configserver from a file made by CME Export
import data between Oracle, MsSql, and other databases supported by dbserver
I wanted a program like this for a very long time and, now that I have it, I though that, maybe, just maybe, someone would want it as well.

Betty,
Sounds like something that can be useful. I would like to give it a try.
So far, what I have been doing is to editing the CME export file and using the file as input to insert into CME empty tables.
How does this CME import accomodate importing rows into database tables that already have data in them?

HI, Betty. I think I will need that. I also have a question.
Can I use this tool to migrate from a development environment to a production environment? Basically, I intend to develop strategies in a deevlopemnt machine first and then transfer them to a production system. Does Genesys have a tool for that? What is the procedure like?
Thanks
Scott

I just finished playing with it, and it empties the tables before importing the data... So, unless you are really creative, I do not think you would be able to use it to append data.

Migrate strategies???
What is wrong with just copying the strategies to a floppy disk and then saving them in a production environment configserver through strategy builder?
Or do you mean something that would automatically reassign DNs, persons, etc to suit the current configuration??? If something that smart was on the market, I definitely would want that too!
From what I have seen so far, CME Import just recreates CME database on the target computer.

Hi Betty,
I think we can use this, is it possible to
have a copy ?
thanx

Copying the .STR file from a development environment to a production environment works well with the 5.1 series.. But with the 6.x series, it is nearly impossible to do that. Since all your business rules and routing rules are in the database and not part of the strategy file that is created. So since you have to rebuild your business rules, etc, in both environments, it would be nice to export them from one database to another.

EXPORT!!!! Which tables???
So, when we create an environment for our customer and then we would like to place it on their site, what do we do?
