Hi Everyone,
At the end of last week it was leaked out that a group of us are planning to create an independent Genesys magazine. The first edition will be published in December this year and the initial idea is to send out another edition every three months. It’s going to be called The Wire.
We plan to fill it with news, ideas, products and analysis aimed at us, Genesys techies\super users\managers. This will not be some A4 newsletter that is photocopied at night when the boss has gone home, it is going to be a full colour glossy magazine. Sounds cool doesn’t it? But it gets better – it will be sent out for free!
Even though the main articles are currently being written, if you would like to get involved and you have an idea for an article or you have some news that you want the world to know about, then please drop me a quick line with a 2 line overview of your submission and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. We have even approached Genesys if they would like to participate, we hope that they will, especially with Version 8.0 on the horizon.
If you work for a business that would like to advertise then we do have a small number of pages for advertising available. We will charge a modest fee but this money will be used to print and airmail the magazine to everyone.
I have a favour to ask; please don’t send me emails directly asking for a copy as we will have a website set up in the next few days so that you can register online.
Remember it’s free (everyone’s favourite word).
Best wishes,
Pavel

"was leaked out" needs to be re-written as "Vic blabbered it out without thinking"!
Nevertheless, it sounds like a really interesting idea, and while I am not totally sure about how fiscally viable it is, having something in color and a paper is definitely something that I can use. I hate reading things from a computer screen and prefer something physical any time.
Best regards,
Vic

Where do I sign?
I'll take ten!
;D
-
Pavel,
I think you are about to go bankrupt! :)
-
Just a quick update to say I've received a couple of different mock ups of the magazine from the graphic designers this evening and they certainly look cool.
-
Another important update:
I've set up a basic website where you can register for a copy of The Wire. The more people that register the better.

A couple of people have mailed me to ask if registration is still open for The Wire. The answer is YES. We plan to go to press at the beginning of December so registration will be open for the first edition until at least the 1st December.
Cheers,
Pavel

Having issues with the password. It doesn't want to accept a password with a leading number.
You may want to change that on the page, or add to the instructions that it needs to lead with a letter...
-
Hi Folks,
Have been out of it all for quite some time,
Trying to open up the site but not able to...
Help??
:D
-
It works for me...
-
Thanks Cavagnaro,
proxy was blocking it for some reason.
Registered....
Cheers! :)

Thanks Kevin. I'll take a look at it.

There's no place in the form to include the State in which we live for those of us from the US. It's tough to mail something to the US without specifying the state to which it should be sent. :)

Good morning everyone,
A couple of people have emailed asking if its still possible to register for the first edition. The answer is yes. The actual last date will be at the beginning of December just before the magazine goes to press.
On the subscriber list there are about 30 people who haven't clicked on the verification link in the email - without confirmation we can't send you your copy.
Also a note on the address you enter. The Wire is a printed magazine which means it gets posted\mailed to you from the UK. This means we need your full address. Even with the best postal services in the world your name plus Dubai or Ventura California etc isn't going to be sufficient. If you think you've submitted an incomplete address just drop me a quick email with your address and I'll update the list.
Cheers,
Pavel
-
Hi All,
The magazine is coming together nicely now. We do have about 3 pages that are still blank. I can reduce the number of pages and make it look seamless but I'd thought I'd open it up to see if anyone has any news\views\articles or even cartoons that they'd like to submit. So if you\your company wants to send me something please let me know soon.
Cheers,
Pavel
PS have you subscribed for free yet? www.thewiremag.com

Maybe some hot chicks? ::)

Hi all.
First of all IT'S A VERY GOOD IDEA. Thanks for your effort. ;)
I think it's possible and easy write an error in some fields. Once the registration is finished and completed we can't change any data.
It will be useful some link, or whatever, where people can change the wrong data.
???
Regards

Hi,
If you want to change your registration just email me the correct details and I'll change the details. Eventually I'll modify the website to allow people to view and edit their own profiles.
As you can guess I'm a Genesys engineer not a web developer. :)
Regards,
Pavel

Hey Pavel, on which language is the web? Maybe I can give a hand on that
-
Hey, Pavel,
I have a subscription to RocketThemes so what do you think about using a template from there?
-
Hi Vic,
I checked out the Rocket Themes website. Some pretty cool templates. Which one do you like?
Pavel

A quick update for everyone - the first edition went to the printers today.
-
The subscriber list for the first edition is now closed as the addresses have now gone to the distribution company. You can of course still subscribe but the first copy you'll get is edition 2 which will be sent out at the beginning of April.
Thanks to all that have subscribed.
Pavel
PS I have attached a copy of the final front cover.
-
Pavel,
excellent job on the first edition! While I am waiting for it to arrive, PDF of it looks fantastic!!! Why are you still doing IT when you definitely have higher calling?
Seriously, great job!

Well done Pavel fair dues to ya!
I hope sending this to Ireland is no hassle!
Keep up the good work mate!

Pavel,
Where are you printing/distributing out of?
In the USA, you can add a little porn photos and get a government grant..... :P
Seriously, I am retired from the international post/express business, so I might be able to help you on post expenses.
-
I received confirmation today that the first edition has now been sent out so if you're in the UK you'll get it in the next day or two. Other destinations will obviously take longer.
Pavel
-
Looking forward to this...
Cheers
-
It took me a while to get the joke here - I almost removed it being in bad taste but I do get in now... As long as the magazine is underwritten by Larry Flint, eh...? lol
<This serves as a reminder to me that this site is global - since a $5billion grant request from the p0rn industry is front page news in the US - but it's on Page 3 in the UK... ;) >

I got to admit that it went over my head.
It's been printed and distributed out of the UK.
-
I've got my copy! :)
-
:D And how is it!? Lucky you...I'll probably have to wait months and pray for magazine not to get lost in the way.
-
It looks great and it's got some very good articles in it - even if I am a little biased... :)

Got mine today, it's very good. :D
Nice one Pavel.
-
Pavel, got mine on Friday, it's brilliant!!
-
:'( :'( I will have to wait....how was it Pavel? Any chance to have the PDF version?
-
Pavel,
you smart furry poodle!!!!! I got the magazine today and I did not expect anything like this!
Excellent work! The articles were very well written (except for the guy who was mumbling about SIP, of course!) and I have decided to laminate it and make sure that it is prominently displayed at our entrance along with other Genesys paraphernalia!
Very very very good!!!
-
Received mine today as well. I saw that the envelope originated with Royal Mail, was a bit disappointed because I was expecting a 10M Pound check from a Nigerian prince I met on the Internet that promised me that he would be sending my money out of London ASAP now that I had loaned him the measily US$2,000. :D
I read through it in one sitting, enjoyed every second of it too. Have mentioned to Max Ball at Genesys that he and and Rob Marchand really need to give you a nice interview about GVP 8.0, 8.2 and 8.2.1. Having the roadmap out to end users and their engineering teams would be a great plus for Genesys, and they would probably get a better internal distribution through The Wire than through internal Genesys communications means. ;D
Brilliant work, you have every right to be proud. And the writing left no doubt that it originates from the hometown of The Bard of Avon.
-
Thanks for everyone's fantastic comments. As this was a group effort I'd like to thank everyone who helped in the first edition.
As for the second edition work has already started, as well as planning for editions 3 and 4!
If anyone wants to help please drop me a line.
Pavel

I got Mine this morning Pavel .. all the way to Ireland - Many thanks!
-
I am in the US (Kansas) and just received my copy. I think it looks great, is interesting, and has some really good information (despite the quazi apology from the editor). I especially like the "An Interview With" section to see the different backgrounds and what lead people into the Genesys industry. Hopefully this will build [s]leverage[/s] inspiration to continue to build on the Genesys Suite (sorry just felt compelled to use that).

Mr Duran,
;D ;D ;D ;D
Are you going to nominate a word or two for the bullsh1t zone for the next edition? I have already been sent a couple of real crackers so the competition will be stiff. ;D
-
Yes I do have a few ;). I am trying to filter out a few that I think might make the list. Although I think for the logo of the section you should have a bull doing his business with the red mark out circle around it (see attached)
