Title: Hyperion designer install
Post by: imaki on May 07, 2009, 11:41:40 AM
Hi, have anybody tried to install the Designer on a workstation where the user would not have local admin rights? It seems, that the designer does not find the license key in such case. Any solutions known to that??

Install as admin and then use as normal user?

OK, thanks. That got to be the case:
Hi,

I've already met this issue. Problem is that Hyperion installer stores entered serial number in Windows registry under current user's branch (HKCU - HKEY CURRENT USER) = only used under which account the installation was done can start the application.

If you have single user host (1 person using 1 PC only) then easier way is to give that user administrator permissions for a while and do the installation under user's account. If several users are sharing the same machine then you need to do following:

1. Install Hyperion using administrator account
2. Start the application and stop it after it initializes successfully
3. Export registry branch "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Brio Software"
4. Log as standard user and import exported registry keys.
