Title: MSSQL 2008
Post by: Dionysis on June 03, 2009, 05:40:16 AM
We have just taken delivery of a new Config SQL Server (lucky us!), and our DBA's, excitable bunch that they are, want to install Microsoft SQL 2008 on it.  I've checked the support site and documentation and it seems only 2k5 is supported thus far.

Does anyone have any experience with 2k8 and Genesys DBServers?  We were running 2k5 long before it was supported by Genesys so the fact that it's not necessarily supported doesn't particularly bother us, provided it works of course...  >:D

Anyone know of any issues?

... not personally but you'll obviously need to be aware that Genesys won't support you if it all goes "Pete Tong"...  :o

Yes, we're aware of that.

Generally that's just an official standpoint though.  We've logged many tickets in the past on technically unsupported architecture and had no issues.

i'd check as maybe the libraries from DBserver are not compliant with this new version of SQL engine, maybe you can install but while running will raise some problems as you know the ugly things are only shown when working on a real production enviroment.

I, only use the 2k5 that it is nice supporting in my server, if the 2k8 must be the great, hoping that you can took about this supporting server.

I used MSSQL 2008 on my lab without any issues.
As far as I know Genesys 8.0 is planned to be supported on MSSQL 2008.
