Title: Answering SIP Call with CTI
Post by: victor on June 25, 2009, 10:04:03 AM
Hi,

I was just wondering if ANYONE was ever able to answer an incoming SIP call by just issuing a RequestAnswerCall command. I know that it does not make sense because you also need to control SIP endpoint and thus instruct SIP to answer as well; however, overall, isn't there some way to make SIP server somehow magically force the end point to answer without us dabbing in SIP protocol?

I know it is an unreasonable demand, but I really would love to know what can be done!

Best regards,
Vic

In training we installed the genesys sip endpoint and with it we answered with GAD the call arrived to us. I didn't understand very well how it was done...

Spot on Rene,

Vendors who for sure are currently supporting Broadsoft Extensions:

Polycom - hardphones
Snom  - hardphones
Counterpath (Bria PRO)  - softphone
..there are others but not in my head right now  :-\

GAD does exhibit this behaviour with its own SIP endpoint - but does not use this specific SIP extension to answer the call - there is a proprietary mechanism from GAD browser to the SIP endpoint to tell it to go offhook.

I see I am getting old here and my memory decided to take a skip. Or two :)

Thank you!
