Has anybody been following the development of Genesys 6 management layer? I see this feature as a major revolution in Genesys solutions: its ability to issue and react to predefined set of alarms adds a completely different scope to how this product can be used.
How hard would it be to use Genesys management layer to monitor different applications which are currently in use? It doesn't have to be Genesys applications at all, now that I think of it, does it? With all the different ways G6 allows user to react to a predefined set of alarms, it would be possible to switch machines, restart an application and/or even send an email. Plus, since it does not require any licenses to operate (except for db licenses), I wonder if anyone has alrady thought of it...
Perhaps, I am not seeing something, but what does everyone think about using G6 as a turnkey system management solution?

If you read the Genesys documentation you will see that the pre
equisites to monitoring Third Party applications are not very restrictive. However you have to configure not only the Management Layer but also the Configuration for it to work.
You also have to keep in mind that the focus of Genesys is on monitoring there applications and not Third Party applications.
