Title: Config db sizing on Oracle
Post by: Nick on January 01, 1970, 12:00:00 AM
Hi All,

Does anybody have any information on the default initial extent size that you should use when creating an Oracle tablespace for the configuration database in G6.1? Even better, has anyone got a guide/document on general database sizing for the various Genesys products that require db's?

Many thanks

Nick

Genesys has made some papers available talking about the sizing...
I looked at support website, but I cannot find any info there at a moment. I will try to post a link

In Config Server installation guide for UNIX it says:
"When Configuration Server is installed on a Unix host computer, enlarge the swap area of the host to at least 600 MB to accommodate a large Configuration Database. "

If you look at W2000 Sizing Guide documentation provided by Genesys, you would see the following:
"The database used for the call center supported both agent information and ERS configuration information. It had a total of 5000 records and was 227 MB in size."

But, to be frank, it all depends on how you use your CME.

We have a 600MB+ CME at one multisite centre with 400+ agents, and another at 20MB for 30 one...

In my experience, the initial size should be around 20Megs to 100Megs plus additional autoextend in at least 2MB chunks.

The longer you use your CME the heavier it gets. How many agents are your projecting for that CME? How many Agent Groups? Skills? Places? On top of that you have to worry about your strategies, number of applications, etc, etc,etc...

To be on a safe side, I would suggest to start with 100MB with 10MB autoextend with an upper limit of 1GB or none. If you are using Oracle, you can parse the database among multi datafiles, making it much easier to manage.

What did Genesys support say?
