Title: syslog
Post by: rob.h on September 14, 2010, 03:09:47 PM
Does anyone have any experience using syslog for managing the Genesys (T-Server, URS) logs?

Hi Rob,

Genesys software uses internal format to send log events between components using Message Server. There is no easy way of using syslog tools to analyze it. Although there are some options possible to explore. What exaclty You mean by "managing logs" - do You want to store them centraly or You want to extract some information or maybe You need to react to specific events - without more details it's difficult to propose some solution.

We have an in-house corporate log management system.  It uses syslog to gather logs and enter the data into a log database.  If possible, we would like to add the Genesys logs to this system.

Thanks

Hmmm,

In this case I would recomend to copy directly from Genesys log database to Your system log database. Of course some conversion needs to be done but it should be simple.
