Title: How to acomplish Genesys SNMP Master agent project
Post by: GenesysNewbie on March 10, 2011, 03:36:28 PM
Hi friends,

Due to a project we are looking to implement master agent component. Currently i am working in a test lab, i have installed the Master agent.  The service is started  ...

What i am looking for is a way to verify its working fine before trying to install this solution on production environment. I have downloaded a free tool that works with traps; However i can not see Genesys traps beetwen my client and server.

Example of my problem
If i use my tool (solarwinds )to test a native trap it shows a value ... for example "number of process running on Server = 30" but if use the tool to monitor Genesys mib, the variable seems to be empty. "GenesysHostname = no value is shown"

What i should revirew in order to troubleshoot this issue? Hope somebody can help ...

thnaks in advance

SNMP Master Agent...

Check trap_host and trap_target definitions in the documentation and verify your settings for both of them...

Hi,

If you were using an earlier version (6.x) trap_host was defined as the Host to which the Master Agent SNMP sends the traps to.  Later versions 7.x)  use the option trap_target which can define any number of Hosts to send traps to - it is a comma seperated list, applied to the SNMP Application in CIM/CME.

It seems as though your's is configured in the correct syntax (<host name>/<port number>:<community name> ), so that is not the problem.

I would suggest that you look at your "solarwinds" application and make sure that it is correctly configured against the Genesys Host/mib, since that is more likely to be where your error is.

Hope this helps?

Hello,
I use this tool and it works good for me...
http://www.manageengine.com/products/oputils/snmp-tools.html

You need to identify the OID for the processes running on genesys boxes.

Thanks
