Title: Stream Manager EOL
Post by: Grega on September 28, 2011, 12:53:25 PM
Hi,

I'm currnelty considering replacing GVP with Stream Manager in our porduction environment. I'm told that Media Server is going to replace SM. Does anyone know when SM becomes end of life?

I have had a look on the forum, however, I'm unable to find any information that relates to anything specific.

Thanks,
Greg.

I would recommend moving to Media Server regardless. Works fine as a 1:1 Stream Manager replacement (though there is a minor configuration change required re: location of music and announcement files).

That is great, thanks.  I agree, Media Server seems to be the way to go, but is there a EOL date?  As that will potential influence how we progress our voice components.  Thanks.

Hi,

I have checked the End of Life (EOL) and End of Maintenance (EOM) announcements and can find nothing specific to Stream Manager. Therefore it should be safe to treat this as any other 7.6 component

Effective February 8, 2011, Genesys announced End of Life for the 7.0 and 7.1 releases of all Genesys products and services, with a few exceptions. The EOL schedule for all Genesys 7.0 and all applicable Genesys 7.1 products and services is below:

EOL Announcement: February 8, 2011
Last Order Date (LOD): August 8, 2011
End of Maintenance (EOM): August 8, 2012
End of Support (EOS): February 8, 2013

Given this, EOL for 7.5 and 7.6 should be a few years after this ....

The EOL Policy is posted on the Genesys Technical Support Website here:

http://genesyslab.com/support/dl/retrieve/default.asp?item=B6C52FB62DB42BB229B02751A5DC2756&view=item

The EOL announcements will also be published on this Website. New EOL Announcements will be referenced in the technical support newsletters. Customers and partners that have a valid technical support login can click here to subscribe.

EOL announcements can apply to one or more products or to the Genesys Suite as a whole. Each announcement will list the products and/or product versions that will reach EOL, and the dates of the milestones leading up to the EOS date.

As a general rule, Genesys will adhere to this 2 year schedule:

A minimum for 6 months from End of Life (EOL) announcement to Last Order Date (LOD)
A minimum of 1 year from LOD to End of Maintenance (EOM)
A minimum of 6 months from EOM to End of Support (EOS)

Hope this helps.
