Title: CCPulse Workspaces / Statservers
Post by: PFCCWA on October 08, 2011, 10:58:45 AM
Hello,

We have recently upgraded all of our statservers successfully, however also wanted to separate the realtime and historical statservers for their individual use (previously both ccpulse and CCA were using the same one).
After creating the new statserver and connecting it to the ccpulse application (removing the original one at the same time) only the superadministrator account can log in and open the existing workspaces.  I have tried to update security permissions without success.  A message pops up upon opening the application advising the original statserver does not exist / cannot be found.
Someone has suggested the workspaces are tied to the original statserver , and would need to be recreated under the new one for the non admin users to view them - is this correct?  if so it would mean we would need to recreate all of our workspaces in addition to adding the many thresolds/actions used.
I am hoping a step has been missed somewhere..

CCPulse 7.5
Statserver 8
SIP 8

Thanks,
WA

Workspaces are linked to stat-servers. When you attempt to open a workspace (FILE|OPEN) the stat-server is shown in the window, although this is probably blank if you have removed the stat-server.

I think that you have 3 options -
1. See if a non super admin user can add the correct new stat-server from the dropdown list and then save the workspace
2. Rename the new CC-Pulse stat-server to the name of the original.
3. Get your super admin to recreate the workspaces, and issue them to all the users. The users should then be able to create their views and attach the thresholds & actions they want.

The Account you are using need to have a correct Grant in it:

Open it's properties and add a new Grant: CCPulse = Administrator.

Then just open the new application and import the previous workspaces. Stat server can be set for the newly imported Workspaces.

I don't really see that giving users extra permissions to get round a problem is a valid solution.

Although you could do it as a temporary measure to allow them to reset the Stat-Servers before you remove it again. I suppose this would depend on how many users you are talking about, any more than a handful and it would be quite difficult to manage.
