Title: CTI Questions
Post by: kannan.v on February 10, 2012, 01:25:30 AM
Hi,

I am new to CTI. Can you please help me understand the below mentioned terms. I tried finding it on internet but there are many mismatches on the definition. Any information on the below would help me.

1) CTI Switch
2) CTI middleware
3) CTI Server

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks

This is going to depend on environment and configuration as these can sometimes be interchangeable. Since I don't know the environment here are some high level definitions as I see them, and since this is a Genesys forum I will assume a Genesys solution.

1) CTI Switch - A Switch or PBX in a Genesys environment that Genesys communicates with for functions and monitoring of specific objects.
2) CTI middleware  - Genesys Tserver for example, is CTI Middleware. Generally software that sits between a PBX/Communications system and other computer systems that translates communication between the two and can expose functions and services to each side of the connection.
3) CTI Server - A server in which CTI services or applications are installed.

I hope that helps to start with.
