Title: Server Share Permissions

We are trying to tiedown security. Since we have 45 servers, what kind of access to the need to each other (for the shares). They currently have 'full access' to each other, can we only give them 'read only' permissions to each other??

Do we even need shares?? Does the servers 'talk' through the ports, or do they need a share??
