Hey guys,
Just a curiosity question...I always see that on IRD there is a TexttoSpeech object but all the TServers I worked with says NO on TLibrary compliant...why is that object there??? Anybody has used it anytime??
Cheers!

Old topic ;D
TestToSpeech is normally used to read back dates or balances using prompts.
-
On which PBX? What platform is used?
Thanks
-
Any, surely? Stream manager does the playback of digits.
-
??? Stream Manager then you are talking about SIP Server but those objects were there far far ago when not SIP Server or SM existed.
-
Pre-06? :o I'm sure if you connect a 7.2 Tserver to SM it will work just fine.
-
SM = Stream Manager?
SM speaks only SIP so how in earth could it talk to a TDM PBX or its TServer???

Stream Manager generates and processes media in RTP format, and it has done so since v6 (or even earlier), when it was called VoIP Stream Manager. Then it just became Stream Manager. And now it is Media Server/MCP. It has always been able to play moh and announcements via Tserver.

I guess you don't understand the question... ;)
Those objects exists on IRD since I can remember, version 7.2 for example and even before...those days IP PBX were not available as now with SIP Server.
So on old days, what was the use of those buttons.
Alcatel did handle integration with SM via SIP Server (SIP and of course RTP)
Avaya the same
So which PBX would be able to use StreamManager directly?
I have not found any documentation or reference about VOIP Stream Manager previous to version 7.2

I am still not sure I understand what you are asking. No PBX can use SM directly, unless you are using Gen SIPS as the PBX. With a legacy PBX, all comms still flow via CTI link to and from Tserver. That's the whole point of Tserver - to be an agnostic link to a PBX on the one side, and telephony components on the other.
So SM connects to Tserver. Never to the PBX. The documentation is so old it's not longer available via Genesys KB, but if you search for "stream manager 6 architecture" you will still get some hits via Solution Search.
Cisco Call Manager could use SM without the presence of SIP Server, for instance. The TTS function does not read a sentence and converts it to speech. It breaks up the input into prompts, so $101 would be returned as four prompts: "100.wav", "and.wav", "1.wav" and "dollars.wav".
It seems your assumption is that no announcements, music or anything can be presented without an IP PBX? :-\
-
;D ;D ;D No my friend.
Go to IRD and you will find the Text to Speech button, correct? Yes, it can be used on SIP Server environment.
BUT! the big BUT! this buttons existed since long time before SM ever appeared on the scene. So rewind 5 years ago, why are those buttons there and which platform on those days was able to use them...that is the question, as said, just a curiosity.

CCM was introduced in early 2000. Stream manager has been around for ages.
