Title: Resource Manager 8.15 wont start with HA cluster
Post by: PFCCWA on February 24, 2013, 02:58:32 PM
Hello,

We have attempted a resource manager upgrade (to 8.1.5) and cannot get it to start up.
Rolling back to the previous version works fine.
Believing this to be related to configuration we have narrowed it down the ha mode option - basically if we use value 'none' it starts up without issue. if we use any other option it fails to start.
These values work without problem on older version (8.1.2).
rm logs say the following:
2013-02-24T13:12:00.099 Std 20004 EROR 00000000-00000000 3804 09500203 45613744 Could not create the server socket at port 5062
2013-02-24T13:12:00.099 Std 20006 CRIT 00000000-00000000 3804 09400101 CCPRM::Initialize failed

Port 5062 is used by both rm's within the nlb cluster.
we suspect there is a port conflict but then works on older version.

Thanks.

I think that the port 5062 is for registrar function of RM,you have configured this port number in cluster section in RM object?

by default it is, however we have changed the ports for each section:
proxy 5062/5063
registrar 5064/5065
monitor 5066/5067
subscription 5068/5069
this was done by our original integrator but without reason as the deployment guide states ports only need to be changed if sipserver and rm reside on the same host.
either way i think you may be right as the conflict appears to be at the cluster section where the member 1 option value is RMhost1IP:5062 and member 2 is RMhost2IP:5062, but the deployment guide states this should be:
Enter <localhost_IP_add_1>:9801,
where <localhost_IP_add_1> is the private IP address of the first Resource
Manager host, which corresponds to the IP address of the network interface that
does not have the virtual IP address assigned (not the IP address that is associated
with the NLB cluster)..
having said this the original settings worked with 8.1.2, so maybe there is a difference in 8.1.5.
thanks.

There exists only one section which can cause port conflict, the port is in "proxy" section - in default use port 5060,so for singleserver installation just change proxy port to another - I prefer to 5160. So,I have never deployed GVP in 8.1.2 version, only in 8.1.4+,but I have always configured port for cluster to value 9801 and I have not even registered your issue
