Title: Nortel Meridian Links

Is it possible to have more than one Meridian CTI link coming from the Nortel switch? We have one currently running attached to the production TServer, but would like another one attached to a lab TServer. Are there any issues with having the 2 links, thanks.

Yes, it IS possible.
Unfortunately in Germany (and I guess in Europe) where we are based Nortel has stopped supporting the Meridian Link (MLINK) product and the only solution available is to migrate to Symposium Link (SLINK) which is

a) not half as stable as MLink
b) not half as feature rich
c) slightly different in licensing (more expensive of course) :)

But with both solutions its possible to run more than one link.
What's the reason for you wanting to run more than one link?
If it is redundancy: Did you check Genesys' redundancy strategy which is not mainly based on duplicating the link?

Actually, you don't really need a second Mlink to support a Lab Tserver. The MLINK that you have in your switch can support up to 8 connection. So basically, complete the install of your lab TServer and have it connect to the same Mlink IP/port adresse used in your production setup

Is it true that there will be congestion if more than 1 application is used? I had wanted to set up another tserver for another customer, but was told by my pbx guy that because Mlink would broadcast to all applications (due to all dn registration) and there would be congestion and would have problem in routing.

Any idea?

I have not heard of that problem before. Our companie has four (4) connections on the Mlink and there are no problem so far. We are plannint a UR implementation this summer, and we don't foresee any communication protocol problem. Our network is very solid and run on 100mbits all the way.

I believe my network is of 100mbps. I have a few strange cases that the PBX took a long time (eg over 12 seconds) to route a call after routedused is issued. Any idea about this problem?
