Title: From 6.0 to 6.5
Post by: Sid on January 01, 1970, 12:00:00 AM
Question.

I need to update my TServers. I am running a multisite configuration that now is a mix between 6.0 and 6.1. TServer
are 6.1.005.01 HA.

I have the TServer 6.5.300.03 binary files. My question is:

It is safe just replace the g3tcp_server_32 6.1 file with the 6.5 without go through the whole installation process?

For me, since this is the fast way to go. My plan is stop TServer (now on 6.1). Rename the current 6.1 file to something else.

Copy the 6.5 g3tcp_server_32 file to the same folder where the old one was, and restart everything again. That will work?

Something I should be aware?

OS is Sun Solaris 2.[8]

Just waiting for answers..

Yeah, it will work. But if i were you, i would change also all binaries in directory tlib.

Why don't you just install it to a different dir, then start it when you've stopped the old version. It may work to just replace the g3tcp_server_32 file, but I'm guessing this is not a Genesys supported upgrade path!

This solution should work, but is not recommended since not the same major release. You have to update the TLibrary. If you do decide to do things this way, do not forget to update also the *.lms file. If you run into problems and need to look at the logs if you don't have the right version of the *.lms you might not have all the messages in the log file.
