Title: SIP and T-server

Hi All,

I want to know the basic difference between SIP and Genesys T-server?
As far as I know SIP is also a t-server, then what's the basic difference between both of them?
And how SIP communicates with T-server, through ISCC events?
Can someone please elaborate this?

As stated in Deployment guide from SIP Server.
SIP Server serves both TLIB messages (TServer) and SIP ones.
Others TServers can talk CSTA2 and TLib for example.
A legacy TServer is to connect to other PBX kinda Alcatel, Avaya, Cisco, etc etc etc.

To connect between a legacy and SIP Server, again, as stated on deployment guide, you use ISCC.

I heard that SIP server needs soft switch to be configured in CME. But we don't need any kind of soft switch for t-server.
Is that correct?
if yes, then what does it mean?

That's not strictly correct.  Both SIP Server and TServer require a switch to be configured in CME, Genesys needs to have a view of what the switch looks like, regardless of whether it's soft or hard.

However, with a TServer, you only need configure what you need to enable in Genesys, for example if you have 10,000 extensions on your PBX, but only use 100 of those for call centre seats, then you would probably only configure those 100 extensions, not all 10,000.

On the flip side, if you don't configure something in CME for a SIP Server environment, then that something doesn't exist.

Cav already explained the difference between the two.  But let me see if I can make it as simple as possible.

SIP Server = SIP Back to Back User Agent (B2BUA) and TServer in a single application.
The B2BUA acts as the PBX in this case.

TServer = TServer
You need some external component to perform the PBX function.
