Title: Workspace Desktop Edition Licensing
Post by: kbreboot on January 21, 2016, 05:31:24 AM
Anyone with knowledge on whether WDE requires licensing for use. I know the requirements for the technical seats for TServer and URS connection. But for the use and installation of Workspace is it licensed?

I can't see any licensing consumption other than the Technical Seats on agent login.

If I recall it's more a case of what you want agents to do with it.  But I also had different answers from our Genesys Sales guys depending on which one I asked.  I'd like to see what others have been told too.

Genesys Licensing is a mess.

According to their wiki Interaction Workspace and workspace desktop for that matter does not have any Technical License unlike GAD.

They just want to fleece us of $$ where ever even when its not needed.

I'm suspicious that it is more to do with connectivity. The software itself is free

Free? Like developers and support and all team behind works for free?  Lol
You have no clue on how a business works right?
The fact you can install it without a key doesn't mean is free.

Cavagnaro, I know how businesses work very well thank you, I actually deal with Annual Maintenance Agreements and the purchasing of licenses, my statement of free is that the software is free of any licensing requirements. Besides its only free as far as Genesys knows its useless without the relevant technical licenses, solution license and all the tiers of licensing required.

I just have a gripe that they themselves have no clue and are not very clear on what you're paying for.

There is a licensing guide available, it explains very well in what item to sell on which scenario. You may took it a look.
What I have seen is that learning curve from Genesys sales people as many other sales man is that they don't get into the technical part and therefore end up very lost when asked about specific items. Few sales guys do handle the same level as a technical one.
