This is related to my question about forced routing, but it's also i'm generally interested in. When a call comes into the call centre and i want to send it to the telephone network again (0900 number), do the lines get released, or do these lines remain open? I don't want to run the risk if i do this that all the lines that are used for the call, are used for only that one call. Do these lines get released??

Typically it will use one line in and one line out for the duration of the call.
You could try doing something at the public switch level (IN services), whereby if you return a busy to the network (Certain switch/tserver combinations only), the call is redirected to the new destination by the public switch.
Another solution I have implemented to overcome the lack of returning network busy was to make the call ring for 4 seconds without sending an answer message to the network, and let the network redirect to the new destination on no answer.

If you have already given answer supervision and you want to release or redirect the call back to the pstn or the network you would only have a few options (short of tromboning) If you are dealing with the pstn and the co switch supports 2b transfers then you could architect a solution to release the lines OR if you are dealing with a network provider which offers a service like Take Back and Transfer or Transfer Connect you could architect a solution for these.

It will depend on your PSTN connection. In our case, it is released.
