Genesys CTI User Forum > Announcements Scratch Board

We are being spammed...

This is a brilliant idea, Tony, but I have one concern:

the forum will be too fragmented. One of the reasons why I find betterinteraction.com difficult to use is because there are three hundred different sub-boards and in most cases, it requires an extensive cross-posting.

I thought that by keeping everything in one big chunk will allow for a much more productive environment. With Windows I can imagine 100 or so groups, but even that will still be stretching it. Genesys CTI is not big enough and usually most of the products are interconnected to some degree, making it difficult to decide what board should be used.

At the beginning I was thinking about breaking it into Sales/Technical Support/Announcement and other animals but considering that Sales would probably have questions better answered by Genesys vendors and Genesys themselves, I thought that a main forum plus something we could play in was sufficient. What do you think?

But, you know, at the end, it does not matter how many boards you have or how you structure it: user participation is the deciding factor. And I think we have been truly lucky to have some of the sharpest minds with a lot of experience behind them watching over this forum. That with the number of people giving advice increasing daily, I think we are on the right path.

If only I could get Pavel to finally stop telling people to switch to Avaya... ;) (just kidding ;D)

Points taken Vic - if you split it into "simple" sub-forums, it could be easier to navigate(?)

How about;

Technical Issues and Resolutions - does what it says on the tin. An example might be a User with a technical issue with a particular version (upgrade) of a TServer.
General Advice and Feedback - Q&A's regarding developments and implementaion strategies (not the IRD kind!).  An example might be a User considering ICON and asking; "Have you tried ICON 7.5 yet?  What's your experience with installation..." etc.
News and Breaking Technologies - Interfacing technologies, new technologies, etc. An example is announcements regarding new functionality available (the Wallboard!), advances with Java/ActiveX against Stat and Config API's and any other compatible/interfacing CRM software (Siebel, SAP, etc.) or technologies (PBX, etc.).

- That's it though - 3 parts, with an Announcements sub-forum as an aside makes 4 sub-forums in all.

Would you consider it making progress or muddying the waters?

Hi, Tony,

I think this is an excellent suggestion, and I think we should implement it.

Moving the existing messages around would be a total nightmare.Any suggestions how to do that or just go with brute force?

I think the easiest way would be to move everything to technical forum and annonce creation of two new boards.
What do you think guys?

Best regards,
vic

Adam G.:
Sounds like a great plan Vic.

Can you implement a General Chat forum for non-Genesys related chat like sharing clean jokes or where we're sending Tony on holiday etc?

Pavel

tony:
Like the idea of a General Forum - not sure about my holiday plans yet, so any suggestions would be welcome...  ;D

Only other sticking point might be moving subjects which are not "General" to other more specific areas.  Perhaps we will have to wait and see...

Tony
