Hi, Tony,

I think this is an excellent idea. To build upon this, I think we should have a two-tier system for primary employers and then the other kind, recruiters. Since usually it is the latter kind that is causing all the problems right now, I think we should have a clear policy on how to handle them. Right now, the policy is very straight-forward: we do not.

If we are to allow them to post job-ads (and we will probably have at least five of them a week, and most of them would be for the same job, I fear), we need cut-in-stone sort of rules, that would provide the benefit we think there is to a community while keeping the soliciting and mongering to the minimum.

I would think about registering all the recruiters who want to solicit, and then allow them to post in a dedicate board. For every recruiter, there should be a description. There should also be an evaluation system that would allow Genesys community to evaluate these recruiters. While all of these is all swell, it seems to be that unlike end-user employers, most of the recruiters would be unwilling to disclose their opportunities other than "major ISP in London area", requiring all of people who are interested to further follow up with them. So, at the end of the day, you would have Genesys community contacting them directly, without the need for the forum.  Since this seems to be the way things are done right now, so the whole purpose of having recruiters advertising "opportunities" on the forum once again becomes murky. Because, people who want to contact recruiters are already doing this on their own, we would be just building recruiters' own contact base, without any clear advantage for the community in general.

Did I get this right? I think you said yes but - no - then... yes - but no...?  ::)

I'm sure it is just as well to leave it alone... :)

Hi, Tony,

yes, you got this very right!  I think you are now suited to deal with Japanese companies  ::)

Seriously, though, I think the idea is very good (your interpretation of it), and implementation is possible, but the result would be less than illustrious.

Just think about what sort of people you would be dealing with, where all of their living depends on finding the right person for the job. Think about frustration, manipulation and most importantly, accusation that we would have to deal with. It is like King Lear only in the language we can understand! :)

tony:
Understood - best to give it a "miss", for now....

Hi, Tony,

glad that you agree. Just a day ago I had some annoying German guy that was unhappy that I have removed his, are you ready for this, all-German post looking for telecom professionals. I really think it is just not worth it. In most cases, it is people like this who spoil the image of the hard-working recruiters I have have met so far.

Best regards,
Vic
