Signature option in Message Server

Can somebody tell me what is the reason for having a Signature option in Message Server. According to Genesys manuals, by setting signature option to General or Log, it is possible to define the functionality of a message server: is message server used to display real ime strategy stats, or is it used to simply log all the messages from the applications so it could be viewed with SCI.

Is anyone using this option? It seems like by NOT defining this option, it is possible to use the same message server for both loggin and realstats monitoring in IRD.

Should this option bedefined under "messages" section or "logs"?
