VideoGateway 9.0

Greetings!

I'm in the process of implementing Genesys Video Gateway 9.0 in my lab to experiment with WebRTC and have run into an issue.  The short version is... it doesn't work.

As far as I can tell, I've followed the documentation to the letter, I've run the full start to finish install (on fresh VM's) twice now with the same result.  The processes that are documented to start, do start, logs are written (although not very detailed ones at this stage), and then.... the URL's that should work, don't.  It's not even opening web related ports on the server at all.

So my question is this.  Has anyone else installed it and got it working?  If so, were there any deviations required from the manual?  Seems to me that the docs are incorrect somewhere and I can't figure out where.

Solved the problem, it was buried in the install logs.  By default the install scripts attempted to install 32 bit mysql but the server already had 64 bit mysql.  For some reason this meant the common components didn't install correctly.

Solution: remove mysql completely, make sure the multilib_policy=all option was set in the yum.conf file, and start again.

This means WebRTC is no longer the default product? Or are different things?

From what I'm told the 9.0 Genesys Video Gateway is a replacement product for the 8.5 WebRTC server.  It's another product Genesys has purchased though, under the hood it is Zenon, originally built by Requestec.

I should also note, it's PA release only right now, so you need to go through your Acct Manager to be able to access it.

Damn Genesys...lol. Changing products like this as underwear... I started a project with 8.5 and now have to ask if 9 is not what they offered...

8.5 is a much simpler install, I'd be inclined to stick with that version for the time being.  If I hadn't spent so much time getting Video Gateway to work that's what I'd be doing.

I think the current recommended video solution is a third party app called Vidyo.

I've learnt to never get too excited about video because it usually goes something like this:

1 - Customer demands a video solution immediately after seeing some keynote speech or youtube video about a video call centre.
2 - Engineers scramble to create some kind of proof of concept to show it's possible.
3 - Present the POC to the customer for approval.
4 - Customer has changed their mind and now wants some other new shiny thing.

;)
