Is anyone using an Oracle 8i database with a Genesys 5.1 environment? Which versions of Genesys software are you using?

From what I gather Genesys does not recommend this configuration.

I’d like to know about any potential problems, issues or actions that must be take to maintain compatibility.

Thanks

  • Calum,

We.ve been running Genesys 5.1.5 on Oracle 8i (8.1.7) for some time with no problems. Drivers we were using previously (7.3.4) were compatible so changed very little apart from DB upgrade.

  • Rory,

To clarify then you didn't have to upgrade anything of the Genesys products? We'll be keeping the softphone client as 7.

    How did you test?

  • Calum,

We upgraded a development copy of the database first, pointed Genesys to it, and tested end to end. Everything ran from a Genesys point of view, however, we only run the outbound suite although I doubt whether that would make too much of a difference.

We then backed up the production DB and migrated it. Testing end to end again showed no problems so that was that.

Sounds too easy but no problems since.

  • Rory,

Thanks for the input what did you change in Genesys to point to the new instance? Just DBServer....

  • Calum,

Changed Confserver.conf to point to development database.
Changed the ConfServ application, DBServer section, DBServer entry to development database.
Created a new DAP and swapped this into ConfServ, List Manager applications via the Connections tab.

We had this as a standard process prior to the upgrade for other testing so made that part easy.

  • Rory, Thanks.

    We connected.

Next test is to migrate all of schemas to 8i and run in a blended environment.
