My company is currently thinking about developing our own soft phone for use at our client sites. How long does it take to develop one's own soft phone using TLibrary? What time table should we consider for this kind of project? Any other relevant information would be greatly appreciated. • We have developed a softphone with VB. There are many many things that need to be considered, more from a functionality standpoint. Such as how, do we pass a call back in to another queue, how do we manage the client config, what is the best point to do a DB lookup, multi or single site, different switch types etc etc. We find that maintaining the client becomes time consuming, and so we are considering a browser based application. This brings in a load of new considerations. I will try and post information on progress!!!

  • To develop a basic soft phone using vb, I would say it will take about one week.
but I don't know for what purpose you are trying to develop....
but you need to know all the config stuffs for Tserver and your soft phone

  • Hi,
We are trying to develop a softphone using power builder. We have a person with CGE and activeX experience. Do we need to do the CGD training before we can develop the softphone or can it be handled by reading the documentation..

    thanks

  • I'll give you an unfortunately twosided response.

Can someone with PB and ActiveX and CGE experience build a softphone without training just from documentation? Yes.

Will it be significantly easier and less time consuming after spending a week in CGD training? Definitely.

That being said, if they don't have VB skills also, CGD isn't very helpful, because they'll fall behind quickly. But if they have VB skills, they'll actually get the experience of building a functional softphone in the class, so they'll come out ready to build a new one VERY quickly.
